Hello
We got a 3 month old German Shep. The problem in that she jumps up on us all the time. We have been correction her everytime but it just is not working. Anyone know the best way to solve this. All we been doing is push her down and say no. I also turn my back on her to ignore her but all we get then is paw prints on our back.. Help Please..
NO...just kidding. Don't just turn your back, for whatever reason, you have rewarded her at some point or another jumping on you. Don't just turn your back, leave the room, and completely ignore her, dont say anything. Reward her for sitting, staying, laying, whatever....but NOT jumping. This seems like very useless help, but dogs are very very smart, and i have not seen a dog this didnt work on.
i just saw this on animal planet a couple of weeks ago, let me try to remember......i think when the dog jumped up, they moved thier hips to knock it down and stepped away at the same time, then they left the dog, kind of like ignored it, then kept doing it and when the dog came up and didn't jump up, they always handed it a treat.
the dog eventually learned, it was about a week or 2 they said, it was also an old dog.
My dog used to do the same thing. The vet suggested I bring my knee up so that when she jumps up, it catches her right in the chest. A puppy may be too small for that but it worked well on mine. It never hurt her either.
