Matt
p.s. what is the truck specfically. my truck made this sound when i melted the rubber hoses that return exaust gasses back to the engine for emissions. can you pinpoint where it is comming from?
yea... i hate to say it but ill bet money that your cats are clogged. this forced the little hoses on the drivers side of the intake to burst or pop off. untill the cats are cleared out there is no sense in fixing them because they will just pop again. and they arnt regular rubber hose, they are a special heat resistant hose.
my recommendation is get a quote from a shop and then mabey empty your own cats depending on where you live. (mine was under warentee so they fixed them for me)
