Have been in LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG discussion about difference between stock 24mm bar and 30 mm camper package bar and $179 Hellwig.... with free shipping today from JC whitney...

short story?
if ya got nuthin do the Hellwig - if ya got something and are happy - good for you !

but bottom line? the material and torsional rigidity of the hellwig are FAR better than the stock bars....
I think someone worked it out to like 30% better roll control IIRC...
(if everything on the stock trucks are the best, why do we need to upgrade anything ? )

Has anyone swapped out their stock front sway bar for the Hellwig front sway bar? And if so, was there a noticable difference?

i am not sure what the diameter is on the front hellwig bar but my stock front bar is metric and its 36mm. i got one of those sway bar measuring tapes that wraps aroud the bar. wow, thats big.

well, lets see how this works...i cant wait to see how different it rides and handles.

i ordered the hellwig rear sway bar, aset of 4 billstein shocks, and a dual inline front stabalizer shock setup yesterday. parts should be here in 5 days....

fwiw, did Bilsteins and rear Hellwig recently. The parts on the Hellwig had to be modified slightly to install (bend the U bolts and maybe slotted some holes). Also, the brackets for the brake lines/cables don't want to go back in place. Also got mine from JCW. Look up a member's writeup w/ lots of pics since the instruction leaflet is pretty spartan.

I recently (a couple of months ago) put the rear Hellwig on my 2000 Excurstion. It fit fine, other than mounting the e-brake retaining clip on the driver's side, I had to fudge that a bit. It doesn't look quite the same as the one in the pictures linked a few posts up. The down links are quite a bit different. I can take some pictures of the fully installed one if anyone is interested. I bought it at JC Whitney as well.

It does make a nice difference in handling, but not a huge Wow. That's compared to no rear, and factory still up front.
