My power steering is leaking and from wut i can tell...its coming from the top of the steering box...is there an easy way to fix this or will i have to buy a new steering box? or something else?...any help would be appreciated...Thx
it is probably a seal or gasket. i'm pretty sure you can find both a just about any auto parts store. if the leak is not real bad you might want to try putting a few table spoons of brake fluid in the pump resevoir this will help swell the seals out. i have done it to some of my trucks and it lasted several years. just a little back yard trick
Ranger, Do you know if it is the Bendix gear or the Saginaw? Seal kits are pretty cheap and with a little time no more leaking.
beedevil, I know folks use snake oil all the time, but personally, I would rather we not recommend them on this forum. Some cat may recall something about a suggestion, and not it all, or say I read on FTE where you can use brake fluid in your power steering to fix leaks, so he pours a big bottle in and trouble starts.
