Loose steering

I recently put new tires on on 199 f-250 superduty. I put the original size on the truck 265/75/R16 and what came off were 285/75/R16. Since I put the new tires on last month, the steering seems to be loose driving down the highway. The steering wheel seems to have 10-15% play in it when driving straight. The trusk doesn't pull one way or the other it just drifts a little whiel driving straight. I looked underneath the front end and everything is tight. I was hoping for some suggestions.

Assuming air pressure is good, the tread design can be a factor.A "block" type pattern will cause a loose feeling more than a solid type of tread.

i have the same problem with my 88 250. just totally rebuilt the front axle and put on 4 new bfg mud pattern tires. feels like my steering is worn out. the line up shop claims it is the open tread that's causing it.
