Well this has been gone over many times before but I just got off the phone with my dealer and they said No Way can a V10 be gotten in a super Duty. I COULD get a 5.4 (slow) or a 6.0 (already have one) or an 8.1 (just kidding) so I guess I will wait to see what happens. Or go out of state and buy one. There are others on this board that have also been looking. Obviously Ford Wants to sell V10's in CA as they will be out $ so it must be pretty tough to pass smog. If I was Ford and could pull it off I would build an 8.0 V12 and be the undisputed king of gas motors but that is just me.
BlueOval, Sorry about that. Yes you have mentioned before that a V10 CAN be gotten in an F350. My salesman doesn't think so but I will take your word over his. Most of us probably know more about the F250/350 than 99% of salesman.
NoMo, I didn't ask about 08. I considered it but I figured that most salesman don't want to put off a deal for that long. As far as ordering in the next 2-3 weeks, I won't be in position for a couple of months so I will either wait and buy a left over 06 or wait for the next change i.e CA approved V10.
i just did a look up for nj and ny in fords you build it web site and had no problem building a v10 super duty . seems more like that dealer wants to sell you in stock models most likely a psd that makes him more money and not order. mind you both nj and ny most have ca emissions specs to be sold in either one.
Our dealer sponser here, PolarBear was able to provide us with the 2007 MY order guide. Mr. G, I'd ask someone to send it to you and bring it to the dealer. Since there is about an 8 week time from order to delivery, you could theoretically order it (F-350 V10) now and take delivery in two months.
Charlie, you can build the F-250 with V10 on the fordvehicles webpage but you can't get the truck. I've tried to no avail. I've called dealers in NY & NJ. I can get one in PA and CT but without an address to register it there, I am out of options.
So, if I want a 2007 Super Duty with a V10, I have to get an F-350. I will probably just forget it and buy a F-150 next year.
Other then in some states having a tax or licensing issue maybe what is the big deal?
There is no real physical difference between a F250 and F350... higher rating in the rear axle springs and slightly taller rear axle lift blocks in some cases... that is it, same damned truck just rated at 1 ton instead of 3/4 ton... and ever since we got well above the 5600 and 8800 GVWR those tags (3/4 or 1 ton) have become just historical legacy hangers on... my 2005 F350 is really a 2 1/2 ton truck... yep a true "deuce 'n a half"... and some days she drives like one too!
