Linux O/S

Does anyone know of a good Linux forum?

I know less than nothing about computers; I'm having problems loading this supposedly simple basic beginners version of Mandrake Linux Discovery 10.0.

It's a few years old, but has never been used.

I just want to mess with this Linux stuff for the fun of it.

Try Ubuntus version of Linux, its free, its downloadable, you can run it off the CD, lots of support. I have been a user for two years on a pieced together PC, its great! http://www.ubuntu.com

I do use Win XP but this has 3 good posts on. "Is Linux Ready For Prime Time". http://www.overclockers.com

They are discussing Ubuntu linux & I have found them to be one of the better web sites.

Linux (or the GUI) is definately not user friendly. However, if you can fight with it long enough, its very nice.

Yes, with the OS you need to know what you are doing for some things. Ubuntu has done a great job at getting newbies on board. But when it comes to the GUIs out there for Linux/UNIX, I find them far superior to XP. All I have to say is KDE + XGL is desktop heaven.
