What sup everyone! I have a 04 XLT SCab F150 and yesterday it rained a lot here in south Texas... and what do I find when I get into my truck? That my back seat is ALL WET! Appearently it seaped in through the stop light on top of the truck. I've had this truck for over two years and never had this problem, maybe I haven't noticed?... but my back seat is all wet. Took it in to the dealership and they said it was a known issue. I told them about my stained seat and they were cool about it and said they'd clean it for me.
I'm not mad that this happened, not a lot of damaged occured and as long as Ford fixes it, that's cool. Has this happened to anyone else? Just curious...
There's a known issue with the third brakelight for that year. The dealer should replace the light with an updated part. I believe there's a TSB for that problem...
Posted on other threads ... and posting it again. This applies to 2004 and maybe some 2005's. It does not matter how new/old your truck is ... it can just happen at any time.

READ ME ... and then call your dealership to make sure they have the new part in stock, etc. Get it replaced ASAP whether you're leaking or not! I had my truck for 18 months with no leaks ... until that day. I was already planning on having the dealership replace it (under warranty), but was busy with work, etc. Well, I got a waterfall of a leak when I went through an automatic car wash ... one I'd been through several times before with no problems.
It's almost guaranteed a distorted seal on the 3rd brake light. Technical Service Bulletin TSB 04-20-5 covers this; the part number for the latest and greatest 3rd brake light assembly is 5L3Z-13A613-AA. Your dealership SHOULD know about this issue! It's such a known problem with the '04s that the replacment 3rd brake light housing lamp is in short supply.
