My friends 2002 F350 CC 4wd has no go when cold; it'll barley even move, I've driven it. Starts fine but will not hardly move until everthing gets up to temp.(about 15 min.) Ford replaced the turbo but that didn't work. It has about 70k and has gone trough 3 trans and is ready for its 4th. Any ideas? We both live in central CA so there's no snow and it dosen't get too cold here. The truck has no mods. ford says thats just how they are; problem is he has a '99 7.3, and a 2001 7.3 also...and they don't do that.
The EBPV tube or sensor may be clogged and the valve is staying shut. Once the engine warms up the valve opens. I think you can unplug the sensor and the valve will default to the open position.

Do you mean that when placed into gear, the vehicle will not move, or do you mean that the engine RPMs do not increase when applying throttle? I wouldn't expect the turbo to have an effect on the operation of the transmission to simply get the vehicle moving. Just wanted to better understand your symptom.
The rpm's increase but the truck just creeps forward; when we have to pull the boat out up a ramp and the trucks been sitting its quite a job, the engine is just screaming and the truck is just creeping, even if its just to go down the road. once its warm everything is fine. its like my 6.0L when the turbo was sticking: only worse.
just out of curiousity is the transfer case in 4lo? i mean its sounds stupid but that would do it. otherwards i would think its either a tranny or TC problem.
well the fluid is smelling and looks good, but it was doing this when the last trans. was replaced leading us to believe it has nothing to do with the trans. as for the torque converter I'd haveto ask if was replaced last time...no the transfer case is ok; once the truck is up to operating temp the problem goes away.
Something in the back of my cobwebbed head is telling me you have a tranny problem because it goes away when warm but I cannot remember what the devil causes that. I do think it is tranny fluid related though. Anybody else? Bypass valve problem???
