Hope this is the correct section for these questions. I have a 1997 gas f350 7.5 engine ( I think ). When I first start it in the morning or whenever I first start it, it dies within 3 seconds. I can restart it immediately and it will continue running with any further problems.
second question is concerning dual tank selector. runs fine on rear tank, but dies when switched to the front tank.
Oh, and it idles high all the time. even when the idle screw is backed all the way out.
thanks in advance for the help
First off the computer controls idle speed not the screw. As to the sart and die problem, sounds like a weal fuel pressure regulator, but I would change fuel filters anyway. The front take probably has a bad fuel pump in it.
High idle on a fuel injected engine is typically a vac leak, so check your hoses and use carb cleaner to search for a vacumn leak. But with the start die issue you may also have a bad IAC valve and that could be causing both issues.
Bear is probably correct on the fuel tank switching issue.
I agree with monsterbaby, check the IAC sensor. I have seen the IAC sensors go bad and not set a code right away. This happened on my personnal truck I drove. It would not idle at all but I could drive it with two feet. I have also have seen the IAC sensors go bad and cause the high idle.
