recommendations for copper polish?

Hi, all -

OK, I confess...this isn't a garage/workshop question -- I have some copper cookware that looks like crap and I want to clean it up. I've sanded it using down to 2500 grit, and it's decent, but still not really shiny. Any suggestions?

Thanks...

A lot of time with a very fine scothbrite pad, then even more time with buffing compund and a power buffer or a pedestal buffer and rouge. You will be red by the time you are done.
Usually, if it's not scratched and just really tarnished, you can just use Flitz on it and it'll look like new.

Well, I don't have a pedestal buffer. I have an auto buffer with a 7" wheel. Do you think rouge would work on that? The alternative is I could get a buffing wheel from Home Despot and use it with my drill press. It'll take a lot more time, since the surface area is so much smaller, but it could work.

Go to the hardware store and buy a can of Brasso. It works really good on any brass or copper.

use vinegar and table salt, it's cheap and works better than Brasso, on a 0000 steel wool pad
just dunk it in vinegar and sprinkle a little salt on it and rub

I think that was a hint from Helouise(sp) in the newspaper years ago
works great on copper pans, it's the chemical reaction and it removes very little copper,if any

Rub some ketchup on it and let it sit for a few minutes. We used to have copper bottom cookware and when we ran out of cleaner thats what we would use.I liked using it ketchup better because than we didnt have all that nasty cleaner in the sink.Somrthing about the acid in the tomato juice.
