'05 6.0 Limited 4X4. 11.4 (wife driving) to 13.5 (me driving) around town. Best of 16.5 on highway. Only 13K miles. Hoping it gets better as it breaks in. I will eventually do some mods. That is figuring by hand but usually wihin a .10 of the computer.

I think Excursions get slightly less mpg (on the average) than F-250s with same 6.0 / 7.3L PSD. The Excursion is heavier (by about 500 lb), but may be slightly more aerodynamic. This may mean that city mpg will be slightly less whereas highway mpg may be slightly higher.

All of this is just a guess, but I've seen lots of posts on F-250 mpg and Excursion mpg and see only slight differences.

My '03 gets about 13.8 - 14.5 mpg (hand calculated) in town. 17 - 19 mpg on the highway at 75 mph - 65 mph. 90K miles on it now, so don't think things are going to change much.

We also tow a big travel trailer (9000 lb) and get about 10 - 11 mpg at 65 mph.

Sorry to get off topic but I don't know about calling the excursion "heavier"... I've read some of the f250's door jam stickers and to my suprise, some of them are hitting the 10,000 pounds mark. WOW, I thought that was odd but I guess its mostly weight from the suspension.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Those stickers are the GVWR rating, not the weight of the vehicle. My '04 F350 weighed less on a scale than my Excursion. The GVWR is the max a vehicle can weigh with its payload.
