Oil, Regular vs. synthetic

Who is running synthetic and is it worth the extra money?

I have 96K on my '97 and I am considering switching.

i do and i think it is WELL worth it! of all the work i ask of her i figure i can give some good oil! I run Rotella 15W40 every 5000 to 8000 miles! i dont think it's all that bad, costs me exactly $50 to change my oil, small price to pay considering all the heavy equipment i haul around

be careful though asking the syn vs dino oil question! some ppl will get real hot headed and can turn into a hot debate, lol

it's easily available, i can pick it up at any walmart no matter what state i might be in! most chain parts houses carry it and i have always seen it sitting on the shelf at heavy truck and equipment places.

where can you get mystic?

We use alot of oil, well we were using alot of oil as I sold some of my big trucks, about 50 gal. per month in our diesel engines...........

I use shell rotella.........I have seen trucks that were using a little oil with chevron delo 400 be switched to rotella and not use any more oil................

I used mystic one time in an 18spd. tranny and it ran about 50 degrees hotter than the Hydrotex that I drained for the change...................

In my opinion it is a little lower quality oil and I will not use it...........but in a cheaper engine to replace like the powerstroke its probably ok............tractor and big truck engines I def. wouldn't use it

just my experience and opinion, not intended to offend or belittle anyone
