Hello, My Name Is David. I Have Been Turnning Wrenches For 12 Years Now. I Have Worked At A Chevrolet Dealership For The Past 12 Years. I Am Not A Die Hard "chevy" Or "ford" Fan. They Both Have Thier Pros And Cons. What I Am Is Interested In Is Further Knowledge From My Peers And Learing As Much As I Possibly Can. We Have All Had Our Problems Fixing Cars And Trucks. It Is Always Nice To Know When Your Down On Your Luck There Is Someone Out There To Lend A
Hand. I Have Been Working On A 1979 F250 4x4 For About A Year And A Half On And Off That Ive Been Fighting And I Am Fresh Out Of Ideas. I Understand This Is Just A Welcome Forum And That I Shouldnt Be Asking Questions.
I Dont Know If This Is The Proper Place To Ask This Question. Im Going To Ask It Anyways. Ive Been Working On A 1978 Ford F 250 4x4. The Customer Complained Of Excessive Oil Usage Lack Of Power And Low Oil Pressure. The Power Plant Is A 400 Cid. The Engine Was Completly Dissasembled.
As You Can Imagine. The Cyl. Worn Baldy, The Mains And Rods Worn, The Crank Needed Polished, But Was Turnned Anyways, The Cam Bearings Trashed. The Block Was Bored .030 Over. Replaced Complete Engine Componets Except Piston Rods. Block Was Cleanned And All Freeze Plug Replaced At A Reliable Machine Shop That Has A Great Reputation.
The Engine Runs Great, Has All Kinds Of Power, And Does Not Burn Oil, But Only Carries 4 Psi Of Oil Pressure At Idle. Ive Worked On This Thing For A Year On And Off. Ive Removed The Pan And Checked The Pickup Tube And The Pump. All Ok. Wondering If Any Of You Die Hard And Knowlegeable Ford Guys Can Help Me Out.
P/s Aboout 8000 Miles Has Been Put On The Truck. And Still Runs Fine And No Engine Noise Heard.
Also Did Check Oil Pressure With 2 Different Test Gauges.
