Oil Pres Problem
Helping with a 1978 302 in a F-150 . Just rebuilt, punched .040, heads reworked, bigger cam, intake, & carb, h/v oil pump. Engine is awsome for short while, then loses oil pressure. Tore down to find oil galley plugs behind timing cover blown out, replaced galley plugs, cam, lifters, push rods, oil pump. Had 50 psi while priming pump, great pressure while setting timing & loading trk, but after short shutdown no pressure when restarted. We are getting some oil pumped but less than 10psi at pressure guage (pulled line off back of mech guage). Suspect galley plugs blown again. Any suggestions as to why?
