Glad you're enjoying it, every company has it's problems and it's your right to move on as you see fit. All that matters is you're happy in the end, whether these guys think so or not.
you stated you have own 2 2001's. was either of them a problem? was any of your other fords a problem? if you could own 2 2001's what was wrong with trying another 04? Dude dont get me wrong if you have what you want i'm happy for you, but its like your saying Ford has ran you off because you got ahold of a bad unit. If you like dodge thats cool. All of my family{wifes actually} and buddies drive chevies and dodges. I dont like them myself but then again i dont have too but i dont hold it against anybody.
so tell us what you like about the truck. how many mpgs are you getting? is the power just rocking your world? Just tell us what makes this truck so great that you would'nt buy another Ford? {At this time}
I wish he would of come here giving us a comparison of his Dodge to the Fords. With honest opinions of facts he sees. His problems with his Ford are past, GONE. I didn't feel that was done. It was like he came here with little info and still bitching about how rotten his Ford was. I never read his old posts I just came in here. Thinking I was going to read something about a Hemi. Maybe I missed it but didn't read anything about the hemi. Just my two cents worth.
I own an 86 F250 4x4 460, & an 88 Dodge D250 2wd, 360. Can tell you there are no good Dodge Forums for us old school guys who drive old crap. FTE is one of the best forums on the net. There are many old school, and new school people here & ALOT of SHARP MINDS here also.

The reason there are no good Dodge forums for old Dodges is because there weren't enough old Dodges to have a forum. Before Dodge did their redesign of the trucks, they didn't sell enough trucks to be counted. I had 3 of them over the years and seeing another was rare and seeing a good one was rarer still. They sold very cheap used and it didn't take much for people to simply park them when they broke. The cost of a fender, bumper and grille would be enough to total most of them as the parts were 3 or 4 times more expensive than a Ford or Chevy.

I'm with you i thought we was going to get an up date on the hemi, but all we got updated on was his distaste for his last truck. My best friend and a brother -in-law drives hemi rams and i take notice every time i hear somthing about them. I'll be honest i dont like dodges, trucks or cars, for me to drive, but they are fine for someone else. I guess he doesnt really like his hemi as much as he want me to believe he does. i thought i asked the questions that needed to be ask to drag it out of him but the only one he answered was he would buy another ford.
Well let me pinch hit here. I have a 2005 Ram 1500 Quadcab 4x4 with the Hemi, 3.73 LSD, 17" wheels, and the Larmaie package. You can see some of my comments on the "Sell me a Ford" thread.
Here's what I like about my Ram in no certain order:
- The size. Big enough but small enough to park in crowded parking lots.
- Turning radius. Easy to park again.
- Armrest/storage area. It's wide and flat and the perfect height for me plus holds a ton of stuff and is easy to get to instead of being narrow and deep which would make you dig for stuff.
- Front seats. They're comfortable and higher off the floor which makes me more comfortable on long drives. Plus the seat backs are not as thick which gives more rear seat leg room than a thicker seat back would and is just as comfortable.
- Steering Wheel. Looks good and is the right thickness.
- Cruise Controls. Letters are clear, and buttons have a nice feel to them.
- Steering wheel mounted radio controls. The best I've ever used including my wife's three german cars. I can't think how you could improve them.
- Infinity Stereo. Looks good for a factory system and sounds good for a factory system. Much better than Ford's "audiophile" system. Should be able to contol an MP3 player though.
- Heated seats also warm your back not just your butt.
- The fold-out steel floor under the back seat. Simple and effective.
- Interior trim. The Laramie is accented in silver. I have a silver truck and looks good with it.
- The engine. Has lots of power to pass when I need it. It has been flawless to date, which it should... it only has 27K miles on it. Also pulls my boat fine.
Here's what I don't like about my Ram in no certain order:
- Gas milage. It was getting about 14 city/highway average. 10mpg when towing my boat. The last three tanks though seem to doing worse with about a 13 average. Don't know why.
- Suspension. The 1500 has a slight rake to it instead of sitting level. I hate that look and adjusted the torsion bars a little to level it out. Now it rides a little bit rougher. Also when I hook up my 5K lb boat up to it the rear sags to the point it sometimes doesn't look perfectly level. My buddies 4400 lb boat doesn't do that, makes me question the tongue weight of the trailers. 600lbs should not make a noticable difference.
- The Chrome colored grill. Too much chrome on a silver truck. I like the normal grill on the non-Larmaie trucks better.
- The "you must be a redneck if you drive a Dodge" attitude of some people, including my wife.
- Dodge's hype of the Hemi engine even though I think it is a great engine so far.
- It takes 7 quarts of oil.
- Wish it had a power sliding rear window instead of a manual one. That is an option on the 06' now.
Tranny... has worked perfect but is always in the back of mind due to Dodge's reputation for tranny's.
all your comments are pretty subjective. i drive my sisters 04 QC 1500 all the time and my comments would be almost word for word a complete opposite of your's.
i honestly can't think of one thing i like about that truck.

Of course they're subjective. We could get rid of this "Ford vs. Competetion" sub-forum if we just published every specification available. There would be nothing to discuss.
I guess that's why we have more than one automobile company, not everyone sees things the same.
You can always find exceptions to every rule, train of thought, stereotype, etc. I stand behind my confidence in the Cummings as being a better engine as do many, many people on here FTE.

I have had nothing but negative experiences with the Cummins--in fact this one spent 52 days out of its first 6 months off the sales lot as new in the shop with its previous owner. Cummins=lots of downtime.
owning both dodge and ford i am willing to bet your not so happy with the dodge after 150,000 miles. Most parts are dealer and the prices are about 3 times that of fords for most of the items.
Your parts argument is correct regarding Ford and Dodge. However, it also works in the favor of GM if they are factored in. GM parts are available from far more suppliers and are generally cheaper. It's a matter of supply and demand. More parts sold makes more people get in the business and it increases competition. There are two reasons that there more parts are needed. More parts are sold because there are more vehicles on the road that uses the parts and/or the parts break more often.
