Hi all, I have a 1997 F-150 2 wheel drive with 145,000 miles on her. While driving on vacation the Hi beam indicator light came on and won't go off, I have no high beam lights at all when pushing the switch to the high beam postion. But i do see a light change when i pull the switch arm all the way back toward me. I checked all of the fuses and all were good,i checked the passenger side bulb and one of the elements were burn't thru, I couldn't check the driver side because i didn't have the tools with me to remove the rad over flow bottle. Would 2 bad bulbs cause this ?????? also i read in the owners manual about a relay that is tied into the one of the light fuses.??????? My wife also said she hears an electrical type hummimg noise when i first start up the truck and then it stops after about 5 seconds, i am hard of hearing so i can not hear it at all.
Not sure what your problem may be but it could be in the multifunction switch. I had to replace mine a few years back on my 97 because the low beams would just go off at random.
Maybe someone else with more knowledge will chime in here.
bulbs can do this. if the element breaks and contacts the high beam wire it will cause a back feed to make your indicator come on. you dont need to remove the overflow jug you can just pull the headlamp assembly by removing the two slide clips.
