Procedure after clearing codes?

I just did an OBD2 test on my 98 Ford Explorer V8. I pulled code P0305, and replaced a burnt #5 spark plug wire. The problem is fixed. Prior to replacing the wire, the CEL was intermittent and the code came up as a Pending. I no longer have an intermittent flashing CEL and the vehicle runs normally. I did not use the "Clear" function on the scanner yet to remove the code (it still shows up as pending) because I don't know what to do after I do that. I am afraid I will mess up my vehicle for emisssions testing or have to do some kind of "drive cycle". Can I just clear the code and forget about it?
What is the propper thing to do at this point?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Scott

clear the code and drive the beast, it will go through the drive cycle doing normal everyday driving.

and, then you will know for sure if it solved the problem, if the CEL doesn't come back. I think it's good to keep a log of any DTC's that the onboard computer throws. it is best to clear it out, so that if it comes back, you can see it right away, or if something new happens, it will also alert you right away, so you can prevent further damage.
