Transmission advice please

I am currently building a truck for an every day driver and also to
occasionally tow my 6000 lb Airstream.Right now it has a C6 transmission in it with a 9 in rear end with 250 gears.Peak torque should be around 60 mph as is.
My concern is will it have enough torque on take off going up hill at a stop light?
Or should I install a AOD transmission with 373 gears?
I spoke to a local transmission shop and he told me to stay with the C6 because the AOD was the worst transmission Ford ever had.I find that hard to believe since I've seen that transmission in so many cars and trucks with high miles on them at the junk yard.Which brings me to the next question.
Would an AOD out a 88 and up car work as well as out of a truck?
Sorry for being so long winded but any help would sure be appreciated.
Thanks
Herman

Stick w/ the C-6 or FMX, as the AOD, from all the bits & bobs of Intel I've come across, is not strong enough to tow w/.
That T.V. cable that it comes w/, if it pops its bracket, your AOD will Burn-up before you can do anything about it, as that is one of its major flaws as well.
