After a two year restoration i finally got to fire my engine up today. And my fuel gauge doesnt work after filling it with 5 gallons of gas. I did the correct grounds and hookups. Is it because when i had the tank out i got the sending unit out of wack inside the tank because it was upside down during painting. Also i used a wiring harness off from a truck that the two fuel tanks. do i need to connect the tank selector to get my rear tank to work. Or to i have some other problem.
Thanks nick

OK i did some reserch like i said before i used a frame wiring harness with the 2 fuel tanks i connected only the rear tank because my exhaust gets into the way of the second tank. If i reconnect the tank selector switch and the inline sylnoid to change tanks i should be able to get it to work. only thing is that i used the harness out of a truck with only the rear tank will i have the connection under my dash for the selector switch. I will check the voltage at the sending unit.
I have got my fuel guage to work, I tested the rear sending unit for the pulsing 5 volts and there was none i figured that. So i found where the middle tank sending unit plugs into and tested it 5 volts of power. So i just ran a jumper to the plug in and cennected it and it worked.
