I'm trying to diagnose my '95 f350 4x4 with RABS. The Pedal will go nearly to the floor before the brakes being to do much of anything. I've bled the system pretty well and felt no change whatsoever. The drums seem are adjusted well and theres 70% or better material on all the pads/shoes. Once the system is stiff it does not leak down. With some work (3 or 4 pumps) one can get them to engage a little higher off the floor. I'm woundering if this is not the RABS stuck open and going to an accumulator? I'm not familiar with the ABS on these trucks. I'm going to have to get this thing to pass a saftey in a few days so I kind of need this fixed - Plus I hate it. I don't want to throw parts at it. If it is the RABS could I plug a port on it to disable the vent side?
On a related note - I have one side of the read end with a bad seal and one side with a drum rusted on. The seal I'll have to deal with but the what about the drum? I've always hated dealing with these and I'm not in a position to replace a broken one. I've already knocked a hunk off of the lip of it and a weight fell off it from somewhere... I really wasn't hitting it very hard so I was surprised when I broke the chunk off the edge.
