hi there every body . . . . so as i was looking through all the forums i notesed alot of people wanting to go and upgrade there lights to h.i.d but i like most people dont want to loose the hi \ low funcion well i noted that some one said that there was a company that made them but they could not find them any more well i have found them and wow they look kool now i am going to save up my $$$$$ and buy some after i upgrade my frount end to 05+ so here is the likk to the web site that i found online http://www.brightheadlights-hid.com/hid-9007.htm if you scrool down half way you will see the kit on the right hand side of the page took me 2 days to find so enjoy
if you are interested in a true high/low beam hid kit for the 9007 bulb, i have a kit for sale. they are made by CATZ. they are 4300k, rising white. they were in my X and after about 4 months of owning my X, i did the 06 super duty conversion and have no need for the 9007 lights. pm me if you are interested.
When looking at these kits I found this article. According to this the kits are a very bad idea. Does anyone know of a kit that includes a redesigned housing for HID?
Experience is worth a lot more than a blanket "one size fits all" statement about how something works. People on forums of various vehicles tout the plug and play kits as being junk and poorly designed...
While this is the case on many cars, it's hit and miss and you don't know if you have a hit or a miss until you try.
So then, what's the concern? Hot spots, incorrect beam placement, blinding oncoming traffic, etc.. The kit I have is a Philips 9007 retrofit kit. I've used it in my 1995 F150, my 1998 Grand Prix, and my Excursion.
An example of a miss would be my Grand Prix. I may as well have not had HIDs because the light spread was horrible with hot spots all over. From the front it looked like a car with cheap "eBay HID" halogens in it. I promptly removed them.
In my Excursion and F150 they are great. I initially attributed this to them both having difractor housings instead of projector housings but after replacing the difractor housings on the Excursion with projectors this morning the HIDs are even better.
Kit to kit the only concerns are really bulb and ballast quality. I have Philips ballasts and it seems that most recommend to stay with those or Boschs.
I just replaced my H13 bulbs (headlights) in my Excursion with HID.
NOW....
I have HID HIGH AND LOW beams!!!!
It's a one bulb, 4 ballast system with a full wiring kit. Pretty darn amazing as focused or not (due to the housing) it's actually pretty accurate, I now have the light I need to light up the road... especially since I didn't want off-road lights as of yet.
