engine stall at 80 mph

engine stall at 80 mph
My husband has a 97 F-250 Superduty 4x4 Powerstroke that will stall at 80 mph going down the freeway, he pulls over restarts with no problem accelerates fine pulls back onto freeway goes about 2 miles stalls again. He changed the fuel filter still stalls. It runs fine no problems. He thinks it is the fuel pump and before replacing the pump is looking into other problems it could be. Any ideas? Does it do anything before dieing, or does it just stop running? One thing I would look at first is any leaks in the system, where it could be potentially sucking air. Second would be the fuel cap, it may not be properly venting the vacuum in the tank. The last thing i would look at is the lift pump, it may be wearing out, and might not be able to supply fuel at higher speeds.
