Hello,I have been trying to get my '64 F100 going for two weeks now.It has a 1987 351W engine that has no emission stuff on it except the EGR valve. The problem I am now having is that while running fuel starts coming out of the two vaccumm ports at the top of the four barrel carb. I thought maybe the float was stuck or it needed rebuilt so we installed a 2 barrel off a running unit to this engine, but it to starts pumping fuel out of any spot it can (vacuum ports). I'm assuming I either have to much pressure or not enough vacumm. Any suggestions on what I can do to solve this would be greatly appreciated.
sounds like too much fuel pressure. Are you running an electric fuel pump? Check your feul pressure with a gauge, if it's over 6psi it's too much and you will need a fuel pressure regulator.
The fuel pump is mechanical bolted to the block. I'm going to have the fuel pressure checked tomorrow. The engine ran before they took it out of the previous van. No known problems. This is why it's puzzling me, as I didn't do anything but install it exactly like it came out. Minus, of course all the emission stuff which was removed before I got it.
