What sensor(s) turns on the check suspension light? The light does the on/off thing randomly and I really can't tell any difference in the way it rides either way, so I'm thinking maybe a switch/sensor is the problem. Vehicle is a 98 Navigator.
it depends if you have a 4x4 or 4x2. with 4x4 you have a rear sensor and a front ride height sensor. also it could be your compressor. If the rear end isn't sagging real bad and you have 4x4 it could be your front sensor.
The compressor should turn on, run for around 20 seconds, and then stop. If you do not have any leaks, and do not move the truck, the compressor should not turn on again for a long time.
If you have a leak in the line somewhere, your compressor will turn on, pump up the shocks, then stop, but then after a few minutes, when the air leaks out, it will turn on again, pump it back up and stop. It will continue to do this.
This will send a signal telling you to check your air suspension.
If you don't fix it, the compressor will continue to cycle, eventually burning out your air compressor.
Thanks for the replies. It is a 4x4. The compressor seems to be operating normally per Navdrivers description, and it does not have a noticable sag anywhere after being parked over night.....however, the right front does seem to raise a little more than the rest of the vehicle when the pump is running.
Where is the front ride height sensor? Any good way to test it? Is there a quick and easy way to leak check the lines?
Thanks for the link Toolaide4fit, I'll be sure to check that relay.
