Question 1997 Ford Explorer Timing system

Hello all i am new to the site I am trying to find information on the timing system in my 1997 Ford Explorer. If anyone has informatiion on this please contact me at scoobydoobefoul@hotmail.com

It is controlled by the PCM, triggered by the crank sensor and the ignition module

Smile 1997 Ford explorer

I thank you for that information but actually what I'm wondering Do you know is there actually 3 timing chains in the '97 Ford explorer? I have been told this by a few mechanics but am not completely sure.

97 was the transition from the OHV to the DOHC engine, I presume you are sure you have the DOHC..

In the DOHC, the chains rotate the cam which opens and closes the valve train, last I looked, 2 chains.

The ignition is triggered as described in previous post,
