I am looking for a 1950 Ford F1 floor shift transmission. Any has one or knows where to get one please let me know. Thanks email is burwellrw@hotmail.com
I have a 3 speed column shift in good condition but my son wants to convert to a floor shift.
if your current trans is in good working order maybe consider just buying a floor shifter. Hurst indy shifters for example work for column to floor shift conversion. just a thought??

Thanks. I would like to keep it original if possible. The motor is out and being rebuilt so it would be easy to put another transmission at this point.
Don't forget that you'll have to remove the column shift linkage (or at least tie it off and just let it hang there). Plus you'll need a different transmission cover for the shifter among other things. The interesting thing with your case would be to look at the VIN number. The very late 1950 trucks had column shifters. The 48 to earlier 1950 trucks had floor shifters. If you'll give us the VIN number (just X out the last 2 or 3 digits), we can tell you with a fair amount of certainty which shifter it most likely had from the factory.
If I may be curious, why does your son want a floor shifter? Does he think it will be cooler, etc. It can be a PITA for the person riding in the middle.
I am certain the truck is original and the column shift came with the truck. The steering is already out of the truck and I can buy a new or used floor pan so it will not be a problem. Right now the body is being worked on and not on the frame. I think it is just something my son would rather have....I guess cooler. the serial # is 98RC508XX
I forgot to mention that I do have a 3 speed trans, its been sitting under the bench for a couple years now as im still not quite sure what im doing with it. was in a 48-50 f1 truck with a merc flathead. where are you located? im in Utah.
I just called a friend of mine, he has a case and top for a top shift 3 speed he will sell. you can just swap your gear set into that case.
send me a private message or email for more info
The truck is a 50 Ford F1 and has the original ford engine and transmission. While the engine is out I was going to have the transmission gone through to make sure everything is good and put new seals etc. but my son asked if we could convert to a floor shift. If you have one let me know how much you would want for it. I live in New Orleans.
