Remote Starters
First of all I would like to say what a great board this is, and all the great info I have been reading.
I have a 2002 F350 7.3, Auto, DRW,CC,LB,4X4, and was wondering if it is possible to install a remote starter in a diesel. With winter fast approaching it would be awesome to have one. I am new to diesels and wasn't sure. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Call around some of your install shops to ask if they can do an install in a diesel and if they have ever done one before. They need to understand the difference between a diesel and gas engine and how they start. When looking at systems, see if they can tie the starting delay into when your WTS light goes off. And see if they can tie the length of time the starter is turning over to your tach. That way it won't try to start until it's for sure ready (the WTS light usually stays on too long IMO), and it will keep cranking until it is started - both issues in cold weather. This is the kind of system you want.
The other kind just puts both the start delay and the crank time on a set time. That can present issues because say during the summer it cranks too long, yet won't start in the winter. So, try to avoid this type and get the type that ties into the WTS light and tach.
I starts year round, but we don't get really cold here. single digit temps are rare.
My alarm can be programmed to crank a longer or short time. The way this one works
is the first 2 times it tries to crank is short and the 3rd and last time it holds the starter longer. I found this when i had a weak battery connection and the engine
would not spin fast enough, it would crank on the long start. Also the turbo timer is great.

p.s. welcome to the site.
