Question about Trans.

I have a question about the automatic transmission on my 1999 F350 4x4 powerstroke. First let me say this is my first diesel so I don’t know a lot about them. But my question is the trans shifts like it has a shift kit in it but if I get on the gas and let the RPM wind out higher it shifts just fine is this the way they are suppose to shift or does the trans have a problem.

No, this is not the way the transmissions shifts in these trucks. I would say that your original thought is correct about having a shift kit. The only way to find out is to pull the valve body from the trans to see if there is a shift plate in there. The valve body you need to take a look at is the one nearest to the motor. If you are intested in pulling the valve body. Just do a search on shift kit or valve body and you will find all the info needed to pull the valve body. Welcome to FTE
