Ok, this is my first time ever posting something like this, so bare with me. I have a 2001 F350 7.3L diesel that has been giving me problems. It started acting up when I put my headlights on bright and they were more dim then dim itself. It has been doing that for quite sometime. I never tried fixing that, just didnt put them on bright anymore. Now for the past couple of months, you can be driving down the road and it dies like someone turned off the key. I had a friend tell me that it was the cam sensor, but apparently not because it still wont run. I had another friend hook up his computer to it, but all the codes it thru were false. This truck has a chip in it and I took it out but it still wont run. I used to own a 99 and it did the same thing, so when I took out the chip in it then it ran fine. I sent the chip off, and had it reprogrammed too, then put it back in, never had another problem. But I took the chip out of this one too and left it out, and it still wont run. I have bought 2 cam sensors for it, it might run fine for a few days, then leave me straned on the 3rd or 4th. I dont know what else to do so Im hoping someone else in this world has had the same problem so I can quit racking my brain. Any ideas any of you have would be greatly appreciated

My 01 had a shutdown problem about 3 years ago. It gave no warning of a problem which was found to be the camp sensor. After replacement the truck has been OK.
My truck currently (it is sitting at the local dealership) has another shut-off problem which seems to be related to air in the fuel system. As mentioned earlier the camp sensor problem gave no warning.........the current problem has been ongoing but has never shut the truck down permanently. This problem causes the truck to hesitate & stumble (engine shuts off briefly but then catches) during acceleration and at times shuts off when at idle (traffic lights, parking lots etc. I think my problem is within the fuel filter housing area, maybe a piece of trash, o-ring or something stuck because the last time it shutoff (this time it would NOT restart) I cracked open the fuel drain valve releasing about 2-3oz of diesel at which time I heard a lot of air moving through the housing and lines. Closed the valve and the truck started right up!
So, you have to figure out if your problem is electrical or fuel. With all the electrical tshooting u have done it sounds to me like a fuel delivery problem
ps. anyone with an answer to my problem is welcome to comment.
