oil pressure...?
hi all, I have a 95 F-250 351 4x4. I have had the truck almost a year.I changed my oil yesterday and noticed today that half way home from work my oil pressure seemed higher than normal. It is just a idiot gauge with letters 'normal'. it has always been in the center of the O or to the right of it.I have always used 10/40 castrol. But I put a can of 8 cyl. restore in it this time, and now its to the right of the R. I am a 'guage watcher' . I have owned some old work trucks in the past(cheap ones) and its just comes naturel to keep an eye on things. Is it ok for my gauge to read higher.., or should I look for other issues? I was only 91 miles over my 3000 mile change and had to add a quart between changes. thanks all

As far as I know that gauge only reads pressure/no pressure. It is a dummy gauge. Unless it swings up and down with rpms it is a dummy. It will vary some probably from electrical interference in the switch. You can get a mechanical oil pressure gauge for $15 or $12 and install in in a couple hours. See mine in my gallery.
