I'm looking to get an intercooler setup on my '96, I have all the stuff to do it minus the damn "spyder" piece that splits off from turbo to intercooler, and back from intercooler to intake, I have tried several times trying to get a hold of the guy from GTS, but nothing, instead I have been just waiting for the stock peice off a '99 Superduty, but Ford has them on backorder... I have all the intake boots, and just using an intercooler off a '99 as well (just have to fabricate my own pipes) Let me know if anyone has or can make that intake spyder piece
I guess i got lucky....and must have been one of the last few to be able to get a kit from GTS. It took a while to get though. Installed my 6oh cooler with it and could'nt be happier!!..... Well if I could afford some bigger squirters.........anyways, all in due time!!! Good luck ya'll installing your coolers. And I hope ya can get things going Jake....Good luck
Sidenote....who sells the Spearco IC that is spoken of??
i got my spearco from blackwidowdiesel there sponsoring mech2161, and weweld's rigs
ill have 1 early 99 y for sale in 3 weeks also. we will see ill build them but i gotta have enough demand to make it worth it to yall. if i had to do it like i am now like i said it can be pricey.
if you looking for just the y right now you may be able to call hypermax they might just sell you a y then you can built it to that. the y's i have made dont work with a stock fuel bowl.
The DI intercooler works very well for me, im able to keep my egt's under 1600 in the 1/4. Towing ive never had to back out of throttle due to high egt's, towed about 20k gross teh other day and i was easily able to keep egt's under 1250 while accelerating and never went over 1150 once cruise was set at 78mph.
yes and no still need custom pipes since the outlet locations and other parts are in differnt places. but with the 99.5 and newer turbo pedistal and uppipes and 3" plenums will allow for the late y to be used. but the stock fuel bowl is in the way.
the early 99 y pipe will bolt right in but you still again need custom pipes.
still working on getting this all togethor, i may just route pipes the easy way. i cant remember all the stuff i moved to get the pipes as short as possible in my rig.
