Compressor swap?

My brother's 1999 Dodge Dakota had the A/C compressor go out and it's almost $600 to replace. But we have a Ford compressor that is good.

If we can get it mounted properly could we have lines plumbed to connect the compressor to the new system and wire it up in the place of the Dodge unit? Sound plausible? Thanks for any input.

By the time you backyard engineer that cobbled up mess you will have wasted a lot of time, and spent just as much money.

BRAND NEW compressor for V6 or V8 or 4 cyl Dakota 95-01 is $400,,Rebuilt is $310

New Accumulator is about $75

The only real cost I see is having the lines spliced/plumbed to match. That would really cost that much?

Other than that, we would do all the work.

And where did you price a rebuilt one at $310? Best we found was almost $600. Please advise.
