One thing i hate about these new trucks is no greasefittings. now where not a 1. i crawl under my truck with a can of bearing grease things about smearing some in the joints but looking at it it seems like it would be a waste of time and would'nt help any thing. Anybody have any idea's on this one?

It would be a waste of time to grease the outside. Either wait until you have a problem with a u joint or replace them at your convenience with aftermarket ones that have a fitting on them. As far as ball joints go - just wait. You may not need to replace them for 7 years or more.
I dont agree. I feel likes its more ware and tear and more money to parts stores which probally finds its way back to fords pockets. But theres nothing i can do about it. It dont take but maybe 5 minutes to grease the front end and the driveshafts.
It was found that greasable fittings did not last as long as sealed parts due to the introduction of dirt along with the grease. Even if someone wipes the zerks down well there is still a ring of dirt around the sealing ball. The particles introduced into the joint can destroy the bearings or surfaces inside. Many shops did not even take the time to clean the zerks b4 greasing.
i can see that, but i dont believe thats the reasoning of the change. i know alot of old trucks that are still going with the orginal parts. I prefer to do my own lubing and now i cant do half of it because of a handful of lazy tecs and truck owners. a desposable razor makes since. we're talking a a quarter to a buck and a half each. not $30,000.
Not all the time. Only when its forced. I dont remeber the reaction to ABS but i imagion people did'nt like it at 1st. I just dont see sealed as being better, but i'll get my chance. my 1st truck a 85 f150 bought in 87 has had no front end work nor has any of the u-joints been replaced. My 97 i traded in never had a front in problem nor u-joints and its still going strong i know this cause my cousin bought the truck. I reckon they are building this trucks for the non do it yourselvers now.
