engine temp light stays on
85 f-250 2/wd 6.9 diesel, anyway, ive been driving my truck full time back and fourth to work no problem, but lately right where the glow plug light is theres a water in fuel light and an engine temp light, the engine temp light comes on excactally 10 to 15 minutes of driving my truck, the temp guage is workin i believe and it doesnt seem to overheat none, it runs the nuts, this light just keeps coming on, im not sure if its telling me that the engine is up to temp or that its overheating, i dont have an owners manual and quite frankly i dont have the time or money to get one right now so any help from yall would be extremely appreciated thatk you so much

The only real way your'e going to be able to find out for sure if anything is wrong is to get a good mechanical gauge. The stock guages are terrible and even worse if it's just idiot lights in the dash. But if it doesn't seem to overheat when you're driving, then just keep an eye on it until you can get an actual guage.
Other than that, I'd say turn on the heater when it lights up and see if the light goes off. Check the hoses to see if they're collapsed and just do a thorough check on the cooling system.

Could be the "Overheat Warning Switch" or associated wiring. Switch should close (turn on "Overheat Indicator" lamp) at 244 Deg. F. This circuit (wire color is Red/Black Dots) is totally independent of the "Temperature Gauge" circuit. Switch location is front lower left side of engine according to my '83 manual. If the indicator is on at a measured temperature of less than 244 Deg. F. then I'd replace the "Overheat Warning Switch".
