Sloppy Box

My 89 F-250 with power steering has too much play in the steering box. What's with the adjustment screw on top? Is it one of those tighten it down and back it off kind of things? The tire store guy agrees it's the box but says they don't touch em! I would like to at least try to adjust it and buy a new steering box if I have to. Thank's for any help.

are you sure its not the steering rag joint? if you wanna try the screw go in small amounts. if you tighten it to much the box will lock up on ya and it could hapen at a bad time.
