Ok here goes. A little less then a year ago i did a cam swap on my 302. Prior to the swap i had a little tick on the top end but went away with oil pressure coming up. Did the swap and had tick all the time. while i was doing the swap i forgot about the lifter since comp cams said to re use the roller liftes as long as the rollers looked good. the tick has been getting worse. To the point i took the intake off and put a new set of ford racing roller lifters in. The lifters are all very tight in the holes (good oil pressure for pumping them up). Re installed everything and now the tick seems to be worse. After i torque down the pedistall rockers to the 20-24 ft/lbs the rocker is still very loose. I took the schim/lock off the bottom of a set of pedistalls and the rocker comes tight. i wanted to see how much play there really was. Should I just buy a set of 30 or 60 thou overlength pushrods? or maybe machine 15 or so though off the bottom of the pedistals? The rockers do have wear in them but i can't find a set of stamped metal replacements for a decent price. Ford wants way to much and the aftermarket seems to want to sell me roller rockers which my truck really doesn't need. what should i do. thx for your help in advance.
these are the same pushrods that were in the truck. i think tomorrow i'm going to order 30 thou over length pushrods and machine the pedastals 15 thou. i hope this works.
