major surgery

ok..this may be a bit off topic, but just looking for opinions or anyone with some possible no how. I am considering shortening the frame on my f350 , getting rid of the rack body and installing a fleetside short bed. anyone know of anyone that has attempted this? mine is a cab-chassis and for those of you who might not be aware of it, the frame is totally flat across the top from the rear of the cab to the end of the frame, unlike a stock fleetside frame which has a bit of a curve to it. looks like lots of work...e-brake cables, brake lines, fuel lines, relocate fuel tank shorten driveshaft...hell, the list goes on. I would love to just purchase one b ut I am having a hard time selling mine, and it is a great truck with no issues.well...hope it wasn't too far off topic, I welcome any input. thanks, scott

it would probably be more economical to just sell it and buy a FS man

Aren't the frames heat treated? If you try and weld on it then it will get weak. And there are pickup bed available for chassis cabs.
Here's one vendor, I'm sure there's more.

Stroked Lightning is a regular cab f-250 that has been shortened and it has a shortbed on a regular cab chassis. it looks pretty cool for a road rocket.

It all depends on your level of skill of fabrication, im currently turning a 99 new body style chevy, 1500 rcsb, into a 2500hd rclb, with the help of a 14bolt chevy 1 ton rear, and a hyrbid dana 44 front axle, using a center housing from a 78 ford 3/4 ton, and chevy big hub stuff from the spindles out, which yeilds to be stronger then IFS, and 18 inches of suspension travel in the front. Like i said, all in the level of fabrication skills you have
