Transmission shifting issue
Afternoon Everyone,
Here's a question for any tranny guru's out there..
Specs on my truck;
2000 F-350 Diesel 159000 miles
Super chips set at Tow-Performance
Tranny gauge never been over 190
TSS Sensor replaced
Solenoid Pack replaced
4R100 Tranny
Syptoms;
1-3 gear work great
3-4 gear wont engage
Feels like it wants to but won't until you let off of the throttle then it will engage, but not always??
Pulled a PO783 code- States a trouble with the Solenoid Pack or internal components, but what internal components.
I've already spent close to $400 on this issue with no change, any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm sort of at my wits end..Thanks in advance, Eric

Unfortunately it sounds to me like it is internal to the transmission.
I had the same thing happen to my old Chevy. It wouldn't go into 4th either unless I backed off the throttle and then it was really just in neutral...
Once we established that the transmission was getting all the right signals from the electronics we opened up the tranny and found lots of issues. It wasn't clear what had started the problem but it was toast.

It could be a bad overdrive clutch. It could be a stuck valve in the valve body. It could be a solenoid.
