hey yall, my gas gauge will only register a little above empty but i know i got half a tank of gas..my uncle says it may be the float but i took the sending unit/float out and it moves fine, its not stuck or anything. he also said it may be a short but if it was a short, wouldnt it not get any electricity? its gettin enough to show on the cluster but not enough to register the full amt of gas..any ideas?
also, my aftermarket radio wont stay on. It worked fine for about 2 weeks and then when i'd turn it on all it would do is flash on and off like it was hooked to a blinker. I checked and re-did the wiring and fuses and it still does the same thing. anybody had this happen before?
hey thanks for the info...the 5V pulsation - with the test light blink or will it stay lit? and what would cause the panel lights to not come on with the headlights? i know some of the bulbs in it are good but the only one that lights up is the alternator light but the alternator's working...any ideas?
5v Pulsing means "intermittent" so no it would not stay lit.
It would flash.
Cluster lighting is controlled by the printed circuit.
Crumbling cluster backs
Faulty bulbs or bad contacts of the bulb sockets
Faulty or Dirty Printed circuit.
The Headlight switch rheostat has not be turned enough to light up the bulbs.
can all cause the lights to not light up.
If any of the dash lighting works, that usually means the headlight switch is okay and the problem is with each bulb.
a buddy of mine has a truck a couple of years newer than mine and he loaned me his cluster so imma see if his will work as far as the lighting goes. maybe the gauge too? i'll let you know when i find out something

Where do I hook my tach light source wire to get the tach to dim with the instrument panel lights. I thought maybe I could hook it up to one of the wires on the back of the headlight switch, but I'm having trouble identifying the correct one.
