when I try to use 4WD I have no front drive in High range, when I shift to 4 low it works fine but will not go back up to high range.
any ideas or does anyone have a repair manual for this transfer case?
It sounds like the range fork is worn out, i bet your going to loose 2hi soon. bw 1356 are known to wear out the range forks and the oil pump is known to fail.
sould this be a problem as the truck has only been in 4WD about 4 times, it has 250,000 highway miles on it.

keep in mind the input shaft of the transfer case is spinning at the same rate of the out put of the transmission, on this shaft there is a gear splined hub that gives you 2hi N 4Hi. the hub rides on a fork that has nylon bushings. if the bushings wear out and fall off then you have metal to metal wear, the fork is the weakest part. when the fork is worn out it cant move the hub back into the N or 4Hi. I wish i had taken pictures. basicaly what i am trying to explain is the transfer case is always in motion with the truck so your transfer case has 250,000 miles on it even though very few have been in 4wd
