I have a 3L25 9" I am wanting to install. The change is simple enough because all I have to change is the 3rd member. My question is the rear end has been sitting for several years. Are there any precautions to look for such as breaking the unit in, oils, easy driving for a certain amount of miles, or additives?
For any clutch type limites slip you should always use the correct additive which canbe bought already in the gear oil or bought seperate and added to the rear axle.
Since the axle is used this means the clutchs have been in some oil and been driven. I would just add the correct oil and additive drive ina few circles just to make sure all is well and let it got from there.
If the hisotry of the trac loc is unknown it would be easier to replace the clutches now.
