Hey gang, I wandered in here and was wondering if anyone had a nice walkthrough of a Turbo install. My turbo has bit the dust. It is beyond repair. I bought a new turbo sans gaskets. Once they arrive I am going to attempt to install the new turbo. Any tips/tricks or is it pretty straightforward.
Here is my rig:
1996 Ford F350 Crew Cab
7.3L PS Diesel
408000 Miles and still running strong. Albeit a bit weak w/o working turbo.
its fairly strait forward, stevebaz's site has a good r&r i cant seem to find my bookmark for it right now. having a 10mm 1/4" drive swivel socket makes getting tha back pedistal bolts out alot easier. your not gonna be able to see one of the bolts put you can reach your arm around the back of the turbo and feel it.
not too bad like other have said there are a few bolts you can't see but you CAN get to them. also many say to loosen the upipes but i have not needed to do that.
Superduties are much easier!!! but i still love my truck more!
