Went test driving this weekend

Well to all yall who had hooked me up on the last post I had about getting a ford. I went test driving this weekend and maaann. I drove the 06 f-150 scab and It drove really nice. THEN!!! I drove the 06 dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab. Whoa. I loved that truck. See I am a FORD lover by default. I am from texas originally and My dad owned nothing but fords his whole life. I love the way they look and feel. But damn, when I drove that dodge. It was an awesome ride. Let me know what yall think.

I think the Ford has the most creature comforts anis a better riding truck. I am not to impressed with Dodges build quality for quite sometime. Fords are a much better built truck overall. I have never seen a guy yet that had a Dodge get another one. I would hate have a family reunion an you drove in with your Dodge that could make for an interesting conversation. Flame me all you want but Ford is twice the truck a Dodge is.You Dodge guys out there critisize me all you want but thats my opinion.

I'm w/ cobra on this one. If you liked the dodge then what does it matter what we think? If we liked the dodge better would'nt you think we would be driving it? I'm not flaming its just.... well duh. The dodge might be a better truck, i just dont personly think so. It might out run my truck, i know it uses more gas, but it will never out work my truck. I'm not saying ford will out work anybody else, just saying it wont be out worked. Its been my expernce that at common ground fords last longer, and go thru more hell. By all means goodluck.

I liked that Exiled:
"If we liked the Dodge better wouldn't you think we would be driving it?"
Good point. Like my old man says: I don't care what you do with YOUR money.

If you like the Dodge, buy the Dodge, just get used to seeing my FORD tailgate
Just razzing ya.

We're all (most ?) here because we love our Fords, so what do think we'll say
I honestly don't know a dang thing about the new Dodge's, would you mind letting us know what you like about the Dodge? Details, Details, Details my friend.

I had a 98 Dodge and had far, far less problems with it during the first 3 years of ownership. Right after the 3/36 warranty period was over, I had transmission and rear end problems for the next 4.5 years that were all covered under the extended warranty. When the extended was over, I got nervous because of the reoccurring problems and traded it in on the ford. That being said, when the Dodge was running properly, it would totally and completely blow the doors off the ford I'm driving now. The Dodge was a much more fun truck to drive / use on a daily basis. Even with all the problems it had I was still sad trading it in. I DON'T feel the same way about the ford. When it gets traded in I will be jumping up and down.

I'm just curious ford9c, what were the differences between Dodge VS. Ford that you traded in?
I'm just wondering why you weren't as satisfied with the Ford as you were with the Dodge?

The Dodge interior was more comfortable, I liked the velour cloth seats. After almost 8 years they still looked brand new. The mpg for the Dodge was similar to the ford, but the Dodge had way more power. To me the Dodge felt more substantial, more like a truck. I had no problems with the brakes, or the front end alignment. The tires lasted forever on the Dodge. The brakes and tires on the ford are already worn down. Besides of the above mentioned issues for the Dodge which were substantial, the Dodge was a better, more powerful and comfortable daily ride IMO. Also the Dodge dealers in my area are much more willing to fix problems. They don't give you the run around with warranty repairs. You bring it in, and they fix it. Ford has got to stop with all the excuses when it comes to warranty repairs. They need to fix the damn problems. Ford service sucks around here!!!!!

See all the comments about the dodge and ford. I just posted the thread to hear peoples opinions on the vehicles. I mean that is all these are are opinions. I take past experiences, the good the bad and the ugly and look at yalls point of views and then take all that into considertion. So for you yellow98cobra. No everyone here dont like fords. But alot of people have driven more than just ford. I like there opinion. that is why I made this thread. SO if the question doesnt apply to you. dont worry about it.

I have had three new body style F-150's.... and I am driving a Dodge SRT10... and am more then happy every time I hit the start button this truck stops better then my BMW X5 and not much is faster... the Ford Lariat Screw I had was much more refined and the creature comforts are comparable to a cadillac and the back seat had more room and the folding arm rest .... My kids enjoyed the Ford more... Remember I am comparing a Race truck to a Lariat not very fair...If Ford treated me better when it came time for service I would still be driving the Ford or Salen S331 Sport truck.... all the 1/2 tons have there positive and negative ... its just what you want ... I will more then likely be picking up a Gen 3 Lighting when they come out... and will keep the Dodge until my grand kids can drive

I looked at an '06 reg cab Dodge, seems like a very nice truck to me. Only thing that turned me off was when I opened the driver side door all the way, I thought the door hinge bolts were loose but it was the area where the door bolts to the cab flexing badly. (Hope that makes sense) It didn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling about the rest of the truck. To be fair, I'm sure you can find cheap stuff on any truck. Navyboy83, next time you look at a Dodge, check the door out and let me know if you see the same thing.

Like others have said, it's your money so buy what you like.

Funny I just went outside and opened the front and rear doors on my 06 quad cab SRT 10 and no such issue... Sure it was not a 05 they made a Lotta changes to the Ram in 06 stole some engineering ideas from Ford.. they also received a 5 star crash rating for 06
