Hi all. The newbie is back and still trying to find out if this color existed as factory or not. The truck is said to be Caribbean Turquoise (by more than one person), yet I cannnot find anything on the web to verify even the existance of that color! A paint manufacturer I spoke to that mixes paint for touchup of old vehicles, doesn't think that is the right name for the color.
Unfortunately, my truck is on the way here, so I can't verify the door plate info (or that it is even readable) AND the manuals that I've ordered have yet to arrive!
AARGH! Does anyone have any DEFINITIVE information (preferably a paint code and name) indicating that Caribbean Turquoise WAS a factory color (not Tropical Turquoise...I've seen that elsewhere).
Bryce, Take a look at this vin decoder on my friend Jon's site http://home.earthlink.net/~jcpurut/vin/vin.html it might help :-)

Thanks. I've seen a few variations on this same info. All I've seen is just Turquoise...no Caribbean though. It's probably the right color code, but I'm looking to see where the folks that have said specifically "Caribbean" came up with it.

I tend to think that the color you are referring to, may have been a color applied to the "car-line". It may well be that it is the same shade of paint applied to trucks, but I doubt that's what Ford called it as it pertained to truck paint. It is just too "high-falutent" for our trucks. What you need to do is see a paint chip for the model year of your truck and/or see your local paint supplier and give him/her the color code from your data plate. They can verify the color's name.

Bryce, I agree with Thom, it seems that the paint companies have something close and call it something else, you can't worry over it. Someone else was having this same discussion about paint names, 10 days ago.
I beleive you are interested in touch up paint, trying to touch up 35 year old paint aint gonna happen. It'll always stand out, and even worse after a little time, but good hunting to ya anyways. :-)

I had the same post just a few weeks ago! I found that noone around here had books anymore to decode the "B" paint code off the door. I found that Sherman Willams . com had a paint code decoder by year and make this gave me the MFG paint code wich i then gave to the body shop paint guy to get my paint.
65 f100 code "B"= MFG Code "M556-A
I had it mixed in low cost PPG called Omni Line MTX is wass a urathane two part no clear! Thin as water but results where good but then again I was just looking for one color not the three that my truck was. Cost $58 for gal of paint and $30 hardner $25 for thinner

Found it!
Fords code for the paint is M556A. The vin code was B.
If your looking for someone to mix old paint try this site first and get the SM number and the MFG code so they can look up the formula rather then vin plate code.
The truck is scheduled to arrive any day! The previous owner just contact me and said that they have some paint left over from when it was redone the first time! I should be in good shape. I'll let you know what I find when she sends the paint and info.
