I'm new to working on my truck, but had a lot of experience with my old 1990 F-150. My newest is a 2005 F-150, super-cab 4x2 6-lug. It's getting time for the first brake job and I want to make sure I'm prepared for it, so I've got some questions.
I'm pretty sure I want to machine all of the rotors. Will the front rotors be removed similarly to the older trucks (taking the grease cap off, removing the nut, taking out the seal) or is it totally different?
Same question except for the back rotors? Will they just slide off (since I *think* that they are a disc/drum combo) or....?
What else do I need to know guys? Any tricks removing and reinstalling the calipers? Anything else!?
a 2wd truck the rotors have a spindle nut holding them on, remove the nut and the caliper assembly and that is it. rear, you just have to remove the caliper. you might need a hammer to help with them coming off just make sure you hit the hat.
