I am looking at a leftover 6.0 and it wasn't ordered with a block heater, and it would be a must. Anyone know the cost, or difficulty of installing one. Thanks-Aaron.
77...all the 6 liters have a block heater, but not all have the power cord. Most dealers will throw in the power cord at no cost to make a deal. Where did the truck come from? I thought that all trucks delivered to KS came with the power cord installed.
block heater is already there. Should be in the passenger side freeze plug. Just need to go out and buy the power cord to run it. Cost from Ford is upwards of $80 iirc. If you have an International dealer nearby, they're considerably less there.
It is actually in NE. I just saw the window sticker and it said it didn't have one. The dealership is full of idiots and couldn't say anything otherwise. Thanks.
77...if it is a NEB. truck then I think the block heater/power cord is required as part of the emission control system and may not show up on the sticker. Look up under (or behind) the left hand front bumper and you should see the cord (if it is intalled). I had to order the cord as an option here in MO because they don't think it gets cold enough to require a block heater and it was a $35.00 option.

Here's the instructions to install the cord, it's in the Tech Folder 'sticky' at the top of this forum. This also shows the cord so you'll know what to look for if it's already on the truck.
2005 Block Heater Option: All 2005 F-Series and Excursions with the 6.0 PowerStroke have a block heater installed on the engine. However, the cord for the block heater must be ordered as an option (code 41H). The cord is installed on vehicles originally sold in the following states: Alaska, Colorado, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Missori, North and South Dakota, and Wyoming. Broadcast Message 1512, 3090.
