I'm going to be forty in about three weeks, I have done few things since 1966.
1. Paperboy
2. Custodian while in high school
3. Joined Navy 1985, spent three and a half years scraping, painting and
wiping up oil on the USS Iowa.
4. Degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in Photography.
5. Worked in Detroit as a Ophthalmic Photographer for two years.
7. Got my present job eight years ago. (same field)
8. working with my father-in-law slowly on my 48'.
9. Cubmaster Pack 210 last three years
10. watching two little people grow into big people.

Went to the GM training center in Monroeville Pa. for 3 months for Oldsmobile in 1961,worked at an Olds dealer for 6 months and hated every minute.
Decided to become a draftsman,got the training and started in a co-op program and decided I was bored stiff sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day.
Went to work for a Pontiac dealer in 1964,stayed with Pontiac until 1981, then I went to work for a major rental car company,stayed until I gave it up last Febuary.
Raced oval track cars till 1988,built a 29 Ford roadster street rod from 1988 to 1992.
Bought the 52 pickup in 1995,did/doing major updates and improvements to it since then.Working on the 88 5.0 right now.Hope to replace the enemic 73 302 shortly!
Briggs & Stratton lawnmower engine to play with for my 5th birthday. Took it apart probably 200 times (early flathead love affair!)
Ross, I did some swapping and trading when I was about 8 and ended up with a small mini bike with a 1 1/2 horse engine. My dad was pissed, he didn't want me to have it, but since it didn't run he figured it was safe enough. Like you, I had the danged engine apart countless times,learned some hard lessons about valve timing, etc. finally got it running and havent looked back.
I'm pretty much a jack of all trades, master of none.
I worked as an auto mechanic from the time I was 15 until I was about 30. Ended up being a driveablity tech (those people that live down at sea level don't have driveability problems) Mainly at GM dealerships, 9 years for Cadillac.
I got tired of fighting the factories on warranty times so I decided to go to college with 2 kids and a mortgage. I managed to cram my 4 year degree into 7 years and walked away with a BS in Geology and another BS in Basic Sciences.
Then I went to work running a fabrication shop where we built all the components to install cellular phone antennas all over water towers. After that job went away I took a Compliance Officer job for OSHA.
Now I basically safetyt and property inspections for an insurance company. My official title is; Loss Control Specialist.
I've been a car guy since I was a wee tike. When other kids had trading cards with baseball and other sports figures I had my stack of cards with hot rods, street rods, custom bikes, land speed cars, etc (I sure wish I knew what happened to all those old trading cards)
We are definately a diverse bunch on this site! I love it

After 8 years, finally got tired of pretending to be a college student and joined the USAF. Before joining, and while changing my major 9,348,765 times, I sold everything from Audis to vinyl siding, ran boiler rooms, and partied really, really hard. Since 1998, I've been an F-16 Crewchief (jet mechanic). Planning on getting out after 10 years and hopefully doing some a&p work in the Northwest Florida area. I noticed several other crewdawgs on this thread; any advice?
Well...right now..i'm a studen at Iowa State University. But before I started here and all throughout highschool.. I worked at a body shop(where i did the paint and body on my truck as well as a couple other customs). I do mechanic work for people around home when i am around, built a couple motors, some suspensions, nothing too major. Just kits(Heidts, TCI, Fatman, etc..) Other than that...I'm a waiter/cashier at a restaurant..pays the bills and keeps the girlfriend happy(cuz she gets to ride in my truck, and gas for that is expensive)

I have been working for Ellerbe Becket here in Minnesota for the past 32 years as an Architect. I have been working on muiscle cars, street rods, low riders an now the F100 for the past 34 years.

Well i started in high school working pouring concrete and laying cinder block in central fla ina little retirement community called beverly hills decided to go into the navy after i learned that cutting down a tree with a car is not the perferred way of doing it. So in 1978 off i went first i stopped in millington tenn to learn how to be a aviation electronics technician voluntered to be aircrew so off to pensacola fl to learn that then off to my assignment in norfolk va where i learned all about the RH53D helicopter spent the rest of my 20 yrs flying as a crewchief and also pulled a couple of instructor tours in the wonderful world airborne mine countermeasures (were ya put cables in the water behind the copter to clear away the mines so the ships can pass never said i was that smart lol) now i work as goverment contractor developing computer based training and electronic interactive tech manuals and try to be a good dad to my 15 yr old son and my 2 1/2 yr old daughter

For the last 16 years I have been working in IT support, but before that I worked as a Draughtsman, Applications Engineer and a Test engineer on High frequency Induction equipment.
I have been working on Cars/Trucks since the age of about 12, when I helped my dad with his various projects.
