I have just recently started having trouble starting my Truck. I run a 1994 Ford Ranger XLT 4 x 4 192,000 km on it. The problem has only occured twice up untill now. I go to start my truck one day after work and I turn the key in the ignition and I get nothing , no turn over nothing , just the faint distorted sound of the Chim bairly able to hear it, the usual warning signals that light up on the dash when you turn the ignition also barly lite up. O.K. so initialy I think "dead battery" , nope ,test the battery full of juice. Get back into the Truck try turning it over again , starts like there was never was a problem????????????. Cool, so didn't happen again untill two weeks latter, same as above . What could be causing this to happen? I dont know if this is related but I should note that the Truck has blown two Fuel Pump relays in the last three months. My parts guy says it is unusal for it be blowing relays like that ? could this be a related problem? any suggestions ? Thanks guys.
Also, check the grounding to the battery. When did you last replace your battery cables....or are they 13 year old ones? How's the cable to battery connections? What happens to the headlight brightness when you try to start and this problem is happening?
Thanks guys , ya the battery cables are original , I am going to try changing them today , and I am also going to try tightening the cables to the Starter as well , I had the Trans. out about a year ago, I may not have tightened the cables to the starter tight enough when I bolted it back up, thanks guys I will advise as to how I make out.
