I have this 460 mounted installed in an 82 jeep J20 with an msd ignition and a custom EFIS fuel injections system with a tuneable chip and a mild low end cam. The PO claimed the motor was recently rebuilt, maybe true and maybe not I am burning a little oil but maybe it is valve seals. Anyway my plan is to pull all the plugs and see if all is well down below. If it is I would like to have the heads redone and have some headers custom made (unless someone knows a set that will fit a 460 in a J10). I spend a lot of time in the sand dunes and in mud holes but I sure do like beating another truck off the line as well. That said what are my best bang for the buck options? Rework the stock heads? Or are there and better performing heads that I could buy that will bolt up to an EFI motor. This motor needs a rear main seal in a bad way and if the compression test prove that the cylinders need to be reworked I will be looking for a short block. Any suggests as to a reliable supplier of short blocks. Any other ideas would be appreciated. I believe my fuel injection system will keep up with any upgrades you might suggest. The chip is fully tuneable. I might have to upgrade the injectors under some conditions but I believe that is all doable.
